Over 500 Republican activists gathered on January 20th in San Diego County to watch and cheer on the inauguration of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance. The watch party was hosted and organized by the Republican Party of San Diego County and conservative organizations across the county, including: California Republican Leadership PAC, Reform California, The Lincoln Club of San Diego, and San Diego County Gun Owners.
Paula Whitsell, chairwoman of the Republican Party of San Diego County, says the enthusiasm was incredible.
"We're ready to show the huge support President Trump has here in San Diego, and we're ready to capitalize on this excitement and energy for more Republican wins to support his agenda in 2026," said Whitsell.
Also in attendance were numerous elected officials, including California State Assemblyman Carl DeMaio (R-San Diego). DeMaio said "The inauguration of President Trump as the 47th president is the culmination of the greatest political comeback in American history – and the resumption of the effort to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
The Inauguration Watch Party event also served as the kickoff to the Republican Party of San Diego County's 2026 campaign efforts to win and hold key seats in order to support President Trump's agenda through the duration of his second term.
"Here in San Diego, liberal politicians are determined to block President Trump’s agenda — but we can stop their efforts and have President Trump's back if we win key seats," said Whitsell. "That's why we must recruit, train, and support strong Republican candidates who will work with President Trump to protect our values and deliver results for our communities."
That's why Whitsell is calling on the public to join the campaign today to flip key seats in 2026.
